Melva Vega, age 80, passed away on Tuesday, July 22, 2008 at Methodist Hospital Southlake Campus in Merrillville, IN. She was born on December 21, 1927 to Gregorio Sanchez and Felecia Sanchez in Chicago, IL. Melva leaves behind her loving and devoted husband Alfonso P. Vega of 63 years of marriage; eight loving children: Raymond Vega, Shirley Vega, Alfonso Vega, Jr., Robert Vega, Linda DeLeon (Michael) Grisham, Greg (Sharon) Vega, and Alice Alonzo; 18 loving grandchildren; 18 loving great-granchildren; two loving brothers Benny and John Sanchez; one loving sister Lilly Rosas; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other family members. Preceded in death by her beloved son Richard Vega.
Visitation will be held Friday July 25, 2008 from 3-9 PM at the Ridgelawn Funeral Home, 4201 West Ridge Road, Gary, IN 46408 219-980-5555. A Mass will be held at 10:00 AM on Saturday, July 26, 2008 at Saint Andrew Church, 801 W. 73rd Ave., Merrillville, IN. Melva will be deeply missed by her loving family and dear friends. May God Grant Her Eternal Rest.
