Some of life’s greatest pleasures . . .

Friday, May 30, 2008

. . . are just outside our windows!  A sampling of today’s e-mails makes us realize that we are all blessed with so many daily little joys that add peace and pleasure to our days!

Jerry and Bunny had a “blessed event” just outside their back door in Arizona .  Says Jer, “Yuppers, two morning doves made a nest on our patio TV stand and had two babies.  We named them Speckles and Freckles.  They were here for about six weeks.”  Knowing Jerry’s humor, he added, “One looks like Bun and one looks like me LOL!”  Yep, that’s the “grandbabies” story from the Kings for today.  You can view the beauties for yourself by clicking on the PHOTO ALBUM Section of our class website.

Mulling over the Kings’ adorable story and the clever names - - Speckles and Freckles - - reminded Annette (Gordon) Dorn that they too have morning doves that feed on the ground beneath their bird feeder in Indiana .  “You know, the little birds get so anxious that they shower half the seeds OFF the feeder and the bigger birds just walk around the ground and eat with ease!  That is, until our two Golden Retrievers (grandDOGS) decide it's "fly time"  - - they wait, watch without budging for just sooo long, then, whoosh, they rush over and the poor big birds scatter for their lives!  IF they ever "catch" one, methinks, I'll have to be sure not to traumatize our animal rescuer classmate Ted Zagar with that info - - he'll have me doing CPR on the birdie!”

John Halcarz from Indiana , now home from the hospital and trying to patiently recuperate from surgery, takes pleasure sitting with his cat as they watch the antics in his backyard between the birds and the occasional rabbit visitor.  Yes, wife Diana’s nursing care, God’s furry/feathery creatures, and some great summer sunshine are all helping John rehab through some of his recent setbacks and we all wish him a speedy recovery.

And, last but not least, was this wonderful, picturesque story from our California Rima, “The sun had not yet come up from behind Mt. Lukens when Tippy and I took our walk this morning. The world was a subdued, early morning shade of gray. Although the sky was light and the air cool, not a cloud visited in the sky, foretelling of a very warm day ahead. Heading to the house, the rising sun was now at our backs spreading golden color onto the hillsides, as one would spread peach jam onto their morning toast. With each step forward, the neighborhood was graced with an explosion of gold, revealing bright colors that were once subdued in the morning hush. Another day has begun...May you make it a great one!  Happy Friday, Happy Weekend and Sunshine Hugs from Rima.”

Ahhh, what a life!  Yes, let’s enjoy the little things of this good earth no matter what corner each of us calls HOME!  If you’d like to share some things that you enjoy, we’d love to hear from YOU!!!
