Autumn AND Apples! (Posted 9/25/08)
Sunday, November 30, 2008
Phil Kokandy never ceases to entertain us with his POETRY. For Fall - 2008, Phil shares with us his real LOVE of the Autumn season - - APPLES!!!
ENJOY, both his clever poem AND the delicious fruit, especially abundant during fall harvest time.
Yes, as opposed to his "snow shoveling" and "grass cutting," rhymes of the past, along with his ode to "turning 60" with its corresponding poke at forgetfulness, hey, THIS POEM is truly a "double treat that we will all happily "indulge in" - - biting into a crisp wonderful APPLE while marveling Phil's written composition! Thanks, Phil, happy munching, and awesome autumn apples to us all.
APPLES
Apples...
Hanging on a tree,
A & E's secret desire,
Now is tempting me.
Apples...
Falling from a tree,
Started Mr. Newton thinking,
Scientifically.
Apples...
A paradox and more,
Soft and sweet and good,
Or rotten to the core.
Apples...
A simple, natural delight,
Yet nearly a fatal dose,
To animated Ms. White.
Apples...
One to earth, it fell,
If I put it on my head
Would William Tell?
Apples...
A vision to the eye,
When properly sliced and baked,
Becomes a piece of pie.
Apples...
I hear the people say,
That munching on a ripe one,
Keeps physicians far away.
Apples...
Loved by Dr. Seuss,
Hug them in a gentle way,
Voila! - Apple Juice!
Apples...
Fit and firm and fab,
With so many kinds to choose,
You needn't pick a crab!
