Local Jivers Shared Special Evening (Posted 11-16-08)

Last week proved to be an exciting and emotional week to say the least!  Yes, we know, there was the obvious - - the National Election Day of November 4.  This important event for our nation occurs every four years, but, wow, this cycle caused lots of lively classmate conversation for both sides.  Now, opinions and sparring aside, let’s hope all Americans come together for a better world.  Hey, maybe THAT’s what some of us were doing that very next evening!

About a dozen Jivers, some tired from the long hours of campaign work that week, eagerly gathered with classmate friends and shared old stories and new.  Hearing that Joe Brzezinski, our Alabama state trooper, and his wife Vera were in town, got the ball rolling and others jumped on board, including Dick and Linda (Syzmanski) Colter and Paulette (Pociask) Michalak from Highland; Glen and Thelma (Stocki) Matthew from Warsaw, IN; Bob (Kudnowski) Kaye from Rensselaer, IN; Rick and Annette (Gordon) Dorn and Marilyn (Rieder) Ambos of Schererville, IN; and Elaine (Engle) Bielefeld from Lowell, IN.  To a certain extent, this was also a gathering of the grade school friends from St. Stan’s so the neighborhood stories did go back a long way.  There was lots to talk about with current events, weddings, new grandbabies, jobs, vacations - - the hours passed too swiftly, but with promises to get together again.  (Check out our PHOTO ALBUM Section for a couple recent pictures).

Though distance and commitments did not permit many interested classmates from joining Jivers last Wednesday, it was fun and interesting to hear about everyone’s busy lives and hopefully NEXT time, we will enjoy YOUR company too!  As John Goebel from Indianapolis, IN wrote, “I must decline – that’s a long drive for pizza!”- - and, he added, that he enjoys our class website.  Requests to tell everyone they said “Hello” were also received from Kathy (Fabian) Seremet of Farmington Hills, MI, Joyce (Hruskocy) Clouse from Speedway, IN, Cookie Zagar from Tallahassee, FL, Barb (Straka) Culp of Merrillville, IN, Barb (Cookie Hines) Lail of Hammond, IN, John Lanigan of St. Petersburg, FL, Ann (Purcell) Kuick of Des Plaines, IL, Barb (Benson) Butcher of Crown Point, IN, Eileen McKern of Westville, IN, Diane (Deiotte) Rockhill of Portage, IN, Ron Saczawa from Germany, Dan Hoffman of Schererville, IN, and Tory Hudspeth of Lansing, IL, and, as always, Jerry and Bunny (Fijut) King send along a cheery greeting!

Old friends, new stories, good times - - ahhh, life is good!
