Mother of Classmate Magdalen Paz has Died (Posted 11-25-08)

Mary J. Paz, age 92, of East Chicago, passed away Thursday, November 20, 2008 at St. Catherine Hospital. She is survived by her nine children: Anna Maria (Alfonso) Moreno, Luis Paz, Jr., Juanita (Simon) Trevino, Henry (Janice) Paz, Maggie (Santos Jr.) Corpus, Esperanza (Salvador) Novoa, Violet (Francisco) Plaza, Blanca (Marcellino) Cuevas and Stella Mata; 31 grandchildren; 44 great-grandchildren; special care-giver, Juanita Gonzalez; and many more family and friends. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Luis Paz, Sr.; and two grandchildren.
Mass of Christian Burial held Tuesday, November 25, 2008 at 10:00 AM at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church, 3510 Deodar Street, East Chicago, IN with Fr. Edward Griesemer, S.C.I., officiating, assisted by Fr. Stanley Dominik. At rest, Elmwood Cemetery, Hammond, IN. Friends may visit with the family on Monday from 2-8PM at the Oleska-Pastrick Funeral Home, 3934 Elm Street, East Chicago, IN (one block north of Columbus Dr.-US12) and also at the church from 9:30AM until time of Mass.
Mary was a longtime resident of East Chicago and a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Church. She was a member of St. Mary of the Angels Fraternity of the Third Order of St. Francis, a retired member of the Our Lady of the Angels residence and longtime volunteer serving the poor in Chicago, associate member of Our Victory Noll Missionary Sisters of Huntington, IN, member of Apostulado de las Guadalupanas, member of the Cursillistas, and member of L.T.V.
