Happy Thanksgiving to all Classmate Friends! (Posted 11-26-08)

Happy Thanksgiving to all Classmate Friends!  May you feel blessed and may you also share your blessings with others.

Reflecting upon the Season, we are mindful of joyful happenings - - new experiences, new adventures, new milestones, new grandbabies.  We are prayerful for classmates who have faced special challenges within their families - - health issues and disabilities, personal sadnesses, and even Mother Nature played a bit rough this year for some with floods, storms and wildfires turning everyday lives upside down. And still others have had to say goodbye to maybe a sibling and/or elderly parents.  Yes, the cycle of life has wheeled itself through another year and we take the time to give thanks and to appreciate the strength and comfort given by our faith, our families and our friendships.

On a music website, we stumbled upon a beautifully written poem that fits nicely with the season and we hope you will enjoy.

WHATEVER YOU IMAGINE IS WHAT YOU BECOME

Roots--more complex than that tangled part of an underground plant;
A place to draw from, an essential part of growth;
My beginnings that shaped and nurtured the future me.
When my world feels shaky, as if my roots are being torn away,
And loved ones begin to depart,
I have only to reflect on these golden memories that we call yesterday
The smoothness of a baby's skin;
A wrinkled smile that lights up the room;
Words of wisdom suggested with love;
Sad occasions where prayers are mingled with tears;
Happy holidays where love and laughter and good food abound;
Hands joined in prayer connecting with one another and with God.
And then I know that my roots are secure.
For as a root draws water from the soil,
I, too, can draw strength from that innermost part of my private self
Knowing that my roots are not gone
But are tenderly and lovingly multiplying,
Sending out new growth in the never-ending scheme of life --
Which has perfect order.

Wishing you a "platterful" of Thanksgiving Blessings!
