John J. Volk, age 88 of Minocqua, WI, formerly of Hammond, IN, passed away on Sunday, October 18, 2009. He is survived by his wife, Patricia (Sauer) Volk; two sons: Greg (Rhonda) Volk of St. John and Jeff (Chieko) Volk of Temple City, AZ; two daughters: Sandra Volk of San Tan Valley, AZ and Debby (David) Spiegel of San Marino, CA; four grandchildren: Molly (Stephen) Bollier of NC, Andrew (Tracy) Spiegel of CA, and Aaron and Lauren Volk of Valparaiso; two great grandchildren: Madeline Bollier and Hannah Volk-Roedel; one sister, Dorothy Radigan of Casa Grande, AZ; and several nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by his son, Michael Volk.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday, October 23, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. DIRECTLY at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church, 7137 Arizona Ave., Hammond (Hessville), IN with Rev. Charles Mosley celebrant. Burial will follow at Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens in Schererville. Friends are invited to meet with the family on Friday, October 23, 2009 at the church from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the Mass at 11:00 a.m.
John was a WWII U.S. Navy veteran and a longtime business owner in Hammond, but his true passion was fishing. He retired to Minocqua, WI approximately 20 years ago where he enjoyed fishing, boating and telling stories. He was a kind and caring person who will be greatly missed by family and friends.
