After all the rain we’ve had this month, Saturday evening, October 24, 2009, was perfect and the temps were mild.  Local Jivers were ready to get out and enjoy, and, the front veranda at Langel’s Pizza in Highland, IN was ours for the evening!  Seeing and visiting with our Tucson, AZ classmate Gloria (Briseno) White was such fun and Gloria even kidded that her sister was going to drive by and check on her in case no one showed up!  We all laughed at her shyness as the table quickly filled up with classmate friends.  And a wonderful evening it turned out to be!  Elaine (Engle) Bielefeld, Paulette (Pociask) Michalak, Thelma (Stocki) Matthew & Glen, Tory Hudspeth & Sally, Dan Hoffman and Monica, Jim Wieser, and Annette (Gordon) Dorn & Rick.  As a surprise, Gloria’s sister Olga, also a BNI grad, did stop in for a drink and to greet everyone. 

 

It was wonderful to get reacquainted with Gloria and we all left with renewed appreciation of friendships.  Gloria is currently on the staff of the Northern Pima County Chamber of Commerce in Tucson.  She has the pleasure of working with new businesses, signing up new Chamber members and helping to promote businesses to get to know each other.  Gloria enjoys being the Chamber delegate at various ribbon cutting ceremonies.  We all gave a sigh for the Arizona weather, especially as we know that our typical Midwestern winters will be soon upon us.  Wishing Gloria, in unison, a Happy Birthday, Gloria explained that she usually tries to travel home here for her birthday each year, especially to see her elderly folks who are doing well and still living in Highland, IN.  With handshakes and hugs, another wonderful Jiver evening made history and we left with the mantra, “let’s do it again soon!”
