Veronica Elizabeth Saczawa, age 84 of Hammond, passed away Tuesday, December 15, 2009. She is survived by her daughter, Connie (Robert) Dobos of Valparaiso; three sons: Ronald (Monica) Saczawa of Frankfurt, Germany, Tom (Joni) Saczawa of Highland and Joseph Saczawa of Demotte; 12 grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; two sisters-in-law: Florence and Evelyn; and many nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by her husband, Eugene; son, Donald; and brother, Edward.

Friends may visit with the family Friday, December 18, 2009 from 2:00-8:00 p.m. at the Solan-Pruzin Funeral Home, 14 Kennedy Ave., Schererville, IN. Prayer service 3:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Funeral Mass Saturday, December 19, 2009 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church, 808 W. 150th Street, East Chicago, IN with Msgr. John J. Siekierski officiating. Mrs. Saczawa will lie in state at the church from 9:30 a.m. until time of Mass. Veronica was a lifelong area resident. She was a member of St. Stanislaus Church, Polish Women's Alliance Group #132 and the American Legion #369 Women's Auxiliary. She gave her Todays for our Tomorrows.
